The sixth core game in the Skylanders universe has been revealed! Here’s what you need to know about Skylanders Imaginators.

Be sure to keep coming to this page as I will update this post and share other links to give the most complete Skylanders Imaginators coverage as possible.

All Skylanders games have been about playing with physical toys and bringing them to life inside the video game. Creating a new outlet for the player to express their imagination. But this time, Skylanders has finally made a way to really express that imagination. Welcome to… Skylanders Imaginators!

For the first time ever, you can create your own unique digital Skylander character. That’s right, you the portal master can decide what kind of character you think would do best in a battle to protect the Skylands. You can customize everything from the design, catch phrases, powers, and more. This new class of character is aptly named Skylanders Imaginator. This character will continue to grow throughout the game offering complete customization similar to other RPG games.

You will then be able to save your character to a new Skylanders item called the Creation Crystal. Allowing you to take your character with you wherever you go. Though be careful when you are creating your new Imaginator, because once you choose their element, it is now locked to that Creation Crystal.

If you want to bring your digital creation to life in a 3D physical toy, Activision did confirm they are planning on offering a way! No finalized plans are announced at this point, but hopefully we will get more information soon!

Kaos is back again as the villain in Skylanders Imaginators. This time he is using an ancient power called Ming Magic, which was the original power to create everything in Skylands. With this power now in his control, he can use it to create his own evil army made up of Doomlanders.

Alongside the Skylander that you create in the game, new mystical warriors named Senseis will join you in the fight to take on Kaos and his Doomlanders.

The Senseis are the new main line of Skylanders figures being released this year. The team is made up of 20 new characters and 11 former villains for a total of 31 new figures to be released. There will be no new reposes released this year. All brand new characters in figure form for the first time! Don’t worry though, fan favorite “core” characters will be making an appearance throughout the game’s campaign story.

Each Sensei is a master of one of 10 powerful Battle Classes (Brawler, Knight, Sorcerer, and more to be revealed). This Battle Class is reflected on the base of the figure.

So far three Sensei have been revealed: Master King Pen, The Golden Queen, and Tri-Tip. Master King Pen and The Golden Queen are coming in the Skylanders Imaginators Starter Pack.

These Sensei’s will help your new Skylanders Imaginator grow and become more powerful throughout the game. Playing as any of the new Sensei figures will help grow your Imaginator be unlocking unique weapons, increasing the level cap, providing special areas, and unlocking secret techniques for your Skylanders Imaginator.

Of course, don’t forget your existing 300+ character arsenal from previous Skylanders games. All of your previously owned Skylanders characters are able to be used to play in this new game.

Vehicles and traps are now used in an online racing mode and will not be used in the main campaign of the game.

Players will once again be able to play local co-op, but unfortunately will not be able to play the campaign in an online co-op mode. In addition a PvP mode will once again be absent from this entry.

Skylanders Imaginators will be releasing on October 13 in Australia, October 14th in Europe, and finally on October 16th in North America.

You can pick up the new Skylanders Imaginators Starter Pack for the standard price of $74.99. In this year’s Starter Pack, you will get two Senseis (Master King Pen and Golden Queen), one Creation Crystal, a Portal of Power, and of course a copy of the game.

Skylanders Imaginators will be releasing on Playstation 3, Playstation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and the Nintendo Wii U.

No word yet on whether there will be a “mini” version of Skylanders Imaginators on the Wii or 3DS. Activision did confirm there is no iPad or mobile versions of Skylanders Imaginators.

If you are looking to expand your Skylanders Sensei collection, you can pick them up at a price of $14.99.

Want to create a new Skylanders Imaginator for each element? You’ll need to pick up additional Creation Crystals which are sold individually for $9.99.

Finally, Skylanders did confirm that there will once again be a Dark Edition available on launch day for a price of $99.99. The contents themselves have not been announced at this time.

Published below is the entire Skylanders Imaginators Press Release:

Since the launch of Skylanders®, kids around the world have sent Toys For Bob, the pioneers of the toys-to-life category, hand-drawn Skylanders with one special request – please bring my Skylander to life. This October, Activision Publishing, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Activision Blizzard, Inc. (NASDAQ: ATVI), will make that wish a reality. For the first time, Skylanders® Imaginators will empower Portal Masters to unleash their imaginations by giving them the freedom to create their own Skylander.

“Since we launched the very first Skylanders game, we have received countless letters and drawings from kids all over the world sharing their vision for their own Skylanders. No matter how in touch with our ‘inner kids’ we might think we are as adults, nothing comes close to the endless creativity that springs from the mind of an inspired kid,” said Eric Hirshberg, CEO of Activision Publishing, Inc. “We’ve turned this year’s game into the ultimate blank canvas for kids’ imaginations so they can create and play their own Skylanders.”

Skylanders Imaginators gives players immense possibilities — including appearance, powers, abilities, names, catchphrases, musical themes and much more — to create the wildest Skylanders imaginable. The amazing depth of the creation system could allow for more than a googol distinctive characters.

With the evil Kaos on a new quest to take over Skylands, it’s up to Portal Masters everywhere to create their own Skylanders – known as Imaginators – using the new elementally-aligned toy type called the Creation Crystal. Creation Crystals allow players to transport their Imaginators to consoles at anytime, anywhere!

Skylanders Imaginators introduces Skylanders Senseis, all-new heroes who represent 10 powerful Battle Classes such as Knight, Sorcerer, Bowslinger, Brawler and more. Skylanders Senseis help train created Imaginators by offering a range of benefits including unlocking super-cool Imaginator weapons, providing access to special areas in the game, as well as bestowing Secret Techniques across the Battle Classes. Senseis also have their own unique benefits including the extraordinary ability to unleash Sky-Chi – the ultimate Battle Class super move. There are a total of 31 Senseis, which include some fan-favorite villains who have been reformed and now fight for good!

“Skylanders consistently delivers on innovative gameplay experiences. With customization a dominant trend in the consumer market, the fact that Skylanders Imaginators will allow kids to bring their own creations to life is a game changer and one our customers will enjoy,” said Richard Barry, Global Chief Merchandising Officer, Toys“R”Us, Inc. “We are proud to continue to serve as a marquee Skylandersdestination, and look forward to fans’ excitement when the new Skylanders Imaginators game arrives this holiday season.”

To celebrate imaginations coming to life, Activision is kicking off the “Skylanders Art-to-Life Contest.” Starting today, Portal Masters are invited to submit drawings of their own created Skylanders for a chance to have their characters represented in the Skylanders Imaginators game at launch! To participate, fans simply draw their imagined Skylander and submit it via Instagram or Twitter with the dedicated hashtag #SkylandersArtContest, or to us directly at [email protected]. The judging panel will include Toys For Bob who will determine a grand prize winner. For more information, including rules, visit:Skylanders.com/SkylandersArtContest.

Starting today, fans can pre-order Skylanders Imaginators Starter Packs which include two new Skylanders characters, a Creation Crystal, Portal of Power® and the full AAA game. Skylanders Imaginators will be available on Xbox 360and Xbox One video game and entertainment systems from Microsoft, PlayStation® 3 and PlayStation® 4 computer entertainment systems and Nintendo’s Wii Usystem.

About the Skylanders® Franchise

The award-winning, $3 billion Skylanders franchise has sold through more than 250 million toys1 since pioneering the toys-to-life category in 2011 with the debut of Skylanders® Spyro’s Adventure. The game originated a play pattern that seamlessly bridged physical and virtual worlds across multiple platforms. In 2012, Skylanders® Giants further evolved the genre and added LightCore® characters to the collection of interaction figures. Skylanders® SWAP Force, which launched in 2013, introduced an all new play pattern – swapability. In 2014, Skylanders® Trap Team reversed the magic of bringing toys to life by allowing players to pull characters out of the digital world into the physical world and became the number 1 kids’ console game globally1. Skylanders® SuperChargers launched on September 20, 2015 and expanded upon the franchise’s signature gameplay to introduce vehicles-to-life for the first time.
